Face Lift & Drainage

This ancient technique involves placing and moving suction cups on the skin to help facilitate healing with improved blood flow. It is an adaptation of manual lymph drainage for the face and neck. Facial massage cupping is a type of facial massage treatment used for lymphatic drainage which can instantly plump up the skin and give it a glow. It can be particularly helpful for clients who desire more rapid reduction of swelling after facial surgery, decreased puffiness, a temporary face-lift effect, relaxation, sinus-clearing, inflammation relief, or reduced fine lines and wrinkles. Lifting the facial tissue activates lymphatic drainage to eliminate toxins, cellular waste and excess fluid in the face and neck. Rigid muscle tissue in the face and neck is easily massaged with facial cupping.

The gentle suction during facial cupping promotes increased blood circulation, which may help relieve muscle tension, improve TMJ function, promote cell repair, and aid in other regeneration.

What to Expect from your Facial Cupping Session

At Blue Lotus Wellness we primarily use our vacuum therapy machine for gentle and consistent suction, but we have manual cups available as needed. Treatment begins by opening lymph drainage pathways in the neck and abdomen with gentle manual lymph drainage techniques. Your facial cupping session then starts with a thin application of high quality facial oil.  It is best to arrive for your treatment with long hair tied back and a clean face.  A typical facial rejuvenation treatment lasts 30 minutes, however, additional massage time may be added upon request. Please drink an ample amount of water before and after each treatment.

Lines and wrinkles will plump and any scar tissue will soften. The drainage of stagnant fluids from reservoir areas will reduce edema and chronic puffiness. The muscles of the face benefit greatly from the reduction of tension and tightness, releasing expression lines and loosening rigid muscle tissue.

How Many Treatments are Recommended for Optimal Results?

As with any therapeutic treatment, results can vary from person to person.  The recommended initial course of treatment with facial cupping consists of between 6 and 12 sessions, but even a single treatment can provide benefits of relaxation and fluid drainage. The results are cumulative, especially if treatments are performed 1-2 times per week.  We recommend monthly follow-up sessions to maintain the original results. A 15 minutes facial cupping treatment can be added to any of our other wellness services as well.
